About Ahu Lani Sanctuary
Big Island, Hawaii
"Restoring Native Forests and Habitats."

Ahu Lani Sanctuary is dedicated to the re-forestation of portions of Mauna Kea through direct re-forestation efforts, through education, and through the coordination of government, non-government, and commercial organizations toward the common goal of re-forestation.

OWNERS and MANAGEMENT:

Dave DeEsch
Caretaker / On-site Manager

Caretaker Dave DeEsch is the man who knows the heartbeat of Ahu Lani best. With love and deep respect for the mountain on which Ahu Lani sits, he cares for, maintains, and nurtures the land and facilities. Dave comes from a diverse background that includes playing a major role in an outdoor school on the slopes of another mountain--Mount Shasta. When you get to Ahu Lani, be sure to spend some time with Dave--it is always a treat.

Owners John Lindelow, Sally Klemm, and Roz Rapozo have built a team of dedicated individuals who share their interests in protecting native habitat and species and the return of the native forests to Mauna Kea.

John and Roz are also on the board of the World Turtle Trust, a Hawaii-based non-profit organization dedicated to sea turtle conservation.
